Undernutrition has been increasing globally since 2014. This trend disproportionately impacts children under the age of 5 years, through intrauterine growth restriction and micronutrient deficiencies. Climate change drives food scarcity through increasing extreme weather events, weather patterns, and water scarcity. This is also true for marine food, in that climate change threatens global fish supplies through sea temperature rise, extreme weather, and ocean acidification.
